At college solutions, fit is fundamentaL

We are a team of counselors who know the college admissions process inside and out. We aim to help students discover who they truly are and to use that identity to apply to the best fit college.

We use our expertise to find your student the perfect college fit

We realize the college search process can be full of parental nagging, seemingly random deadlines, and rules that aren’t published in the same place.  We get it – you want college to be an affordable place where your child can thrive.  That’s where College Solutions comes in.

Our team has worked in admissions at colleges ranging from Northwestern University, the University of Virginia, American University, the University of California system, the University of Southern California, and several others.  As a result, we leverage our admission expertise to help families get a leg-up in the college admission process.

First, we’ll help you understand the college landscape: what colleges offer, what majors are available, and how these majors can fit your child as he or she thinks about their career.

Then, we leverage our expertise — based on the hundreds of college that we’ve seen and worked with over the years — to help you understand which colleges, based on your child’s record and interests, would be a good fit for your child.

From there, we will work hand-in-hand with you and your student to help craft a narrative that authentically represents your child.  This includes but is not limited to a comprehensive high school curriculum plan, summer activities plan, testing plan, leadership development plan, aptitude testing, application task and submission timeline, and personal essay support and review.

Our role relieves some of the pressure families feel during this stressful time simply by offering a third party to the student and parents who can relate (separately) to how they are feeling and managing the pressure and tasks of this difficult time.

The college solutions process

Having a private college planner is very similar to having a financial planner, lawyer, or accountant.  This is someone who is part of your family’s team who is concerned about your well-being, while keeping a keen eye on the future.

If you choose to have the complimentary first meeting with College Solutions, you will learn more about our process, our team, and our pricing.

If you move forward in the process, it would look like this:

Senior Year

As a senior, the student begins work on the college applications in the summer prior to the beginning of the academic year.  College Solutions brainstorms and edits all application essays with the student before the school year begins.  Our goal is that the student has very limited college application work during the academic year.  We divide the application work into achievable tasks (and deadlines), so that the student and the counselor can work together on finishing this work well before the school year begins.

As a senior, the student meets with the counselor as needed to discuss application deadlines, admission deadlines, scholarship opportunities, and any other application details, including creating a financial aid strategy.  Once admitted, the family meets with the counselor to discuss where the student should attend college.

What MAkes Us Different

We Guarantee the Right Fit

At College Solutions, fit is fundamental.  We aim to magnify students’ attributes so that they can see all that college has to offer over the next four years and beyond.

Still, college is a major investment.  With some colleges topping $70,000 per year, families are worried about the long-term health of this investment.  College Solutions has specific knowledge of college endowments, grant aid, and merit aid.  Students that worked with College Solutions in the aid process, on average, averaged over $58,000 in merit aid.

The transfer process can be more expensive than a year of tuition, though.  If a student must transfer colleges, he/she may have to do up to an extra semester or even an extra year of schooling to catch up on requirements.  This is why College Solutions guarantees the right fit college.

If for some reason the student is not thriving at the college of choice by the end of freshman year, College Solutions will assist in the transfer process for free.  This is to defray any cost the family may incur dealing with the transfer in the first place.  Moreover, this is to demonstrate to the family that College Solutions is committed to putting their child in the best fit college the first time if at all possible.

College Solutions is 98.7% effective in placing students in the right fit school, whereas American students at large typically transfer 27% of the time. An investment in a college planner is an investment in the future of your family.  College Solutions is ready to help you find the fundamental right fit.
