Ready to level up your learning game?

This engaging summer camp is designed for rising 7th–11th graders who want to tackle high school with confidence and clarity. Over four dynamic days, students will gain real tools for academic and personal success—no boring lectures, just fun, interactive sessions led by expert educators.

What Students Will Learn

  • Study smarter, not harder: Learn how to plan, prioritize, and stay organized with proven executive function strategies.

  • Write like a pro: Break down the writing process and build strong skills in MLA format and essay structure & writing.

  • Boost confidence & independence: Practice goal-setting, time management, and self-advocacy to thrive in middle and high school.

Students will engage in fun hands-on activities, writing workshops, and skill-building games that make learning stick!

 

Additional Details

  • The cost per student for each Monday-Thursday session is $550.

  • The two sessions will be divided by age group:

    • Session 1 (June 23rd - 26th) is open to rising 10th and 11th graders.

    • Session 2 (August 4th - 7th) is open to rising 7th, 8th, and 9th graders.

  • Additional afternoon tutoring/coaching sessions are available at a rate of $100/hour. If interested, you can let our team know during the registration process and we will follow-up to discuss scheduling.

  • Snacks will be provided. Please advise our team during the registration process if you have any allergies so we may accommodate you.

  • Students who have been prescribed an Epi-Pen or similar medication for allergies should bring them to the camp.

  • Once we have received your payment, your participation will be confirmed.

Darcy Salomon

Executive Functions & Learning Specialist and Owner, Learning Smarts

Darcy Salomon is the founder of Learning Smarts, where she empowers students with individualized strategies to enhance their understanding of learning processes, develop effective study techniques, and excel academically and personally. Drawing on over 30 years of experience, she motivates students to realize their full potential.

After a career in the New York City fashion industry, she returned to her hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia to pursue graduate work at The University of Virginia. Darcy earned a Master’s degree in Reading and later an Education Specialist degree in Learning and Professional Development from the UVA Curry School of Education.

With a background as both a classroom teacher and reading specialist, she has also successfully facilitated literacy-focused grants and contributed to higher education by teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at The University of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University.

Deeply committed to the practical application of her expertise, Darcy practices what she teaches with her five children at her home just outside Charlottesville. In her personal time, she enjoys gardening, cooking, engaging in DIY projects with her husband, and exploring Virginia’s scenic wine country.

 

Heather Houmis

Educational Programs and Operations Coordinator, College Solutions

Heather Houmis brings over 20 years of experience in education to her role at College Solutions, where she supports students with reading and writing throughout the college admissions process. She holds Master’s degrees in Elementary and Middle School Education and Library Science from Old Dominion University, equipping her with deep expertise in literacy development and information access.

Heather’s career spans teaching at both the elementary and high school levels, as well as a decade as a school media specialist. She has also served as a literacy specialist, providing interventions and resources to students, families, and educators. A natural leader and mentor, Heather has trained fellow educators and supported academic growth across diverse learning environments.

At College Solutions, she leverages her background to help students build the confidence and skills they need to succeed as strong, lifelong learners. Outside of work, Heather enjoys spending time with her two children, reading, cooking, and spending time at the beach.

 

Margaret BOlton Baudinet

Owner, CEO, and Scholarship Specialist, College Solutions

Margaret graduated from the University of Virginia with the highest distinction with a political and literary thought degree, finishing her acadMargaret Bolton Baudinet is the owner and Chief Executive Officer of College Solutions. She also serves as the Scholarship Specialist to College Solutions clients.

She holds five years of admission experience from the University of Virginia, specializing in legacy admissions. Margaret has served on the selection committee for the Coca-Cola Scholarship Program and the University of Virginia’s Jefferson Scholarship.

At College Solutions, Margaret has been a writing coach, counselor, application editor, managing director, and CEO. She is the proud mother of eight-year-old quintuplets and a busy toddler.emic tenure with research at Oxford University.
